WFT Engineering was part of the design team to relocate the
147,000 sf corporate headquarters of this major Montgomery
County firm. Working with the project architect, independent
project manager, and building owner, WFT Engineering provided
complete mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection
consulting services for the interior renovations on seven
floors. Our team also worked with the building owner to design
upgrades to the base building VAV systems.
The design was based on an open plan concept and included
typical office space amenities such as two pantries per floor,
conference rooms, file rooms, executive offices, reception
and common areas, as well as new conference center facilities
on the first and second floors. A large server/production
room with 24 hour cooling and roof mounted heat rejection
was also included. The lighting scheme consisted mostly of
ambient pendant fixtures. WFT Engineering worked closely with
the code reviewers to minimize code required outside air upgrades
in the standard tenant areas. The project also included a
dedicated 600 kW emergency generator package. WFT Engineering
pre-ordered long lead items and assisted in expediting permit
reviews.
HMS Host was the largest tenant
project in Montgomery County
during 2006.
