National Institutes of Health Building No. 2 - Bethesda, Maryland

Project Details

As the prime designer, WFT Engineering provided detailed systems analysis to determine the most life cycle cost effective mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and life safety systems for this 52,000 sf historic building. The HVAC system included the installation of a variable flow tertiary chilled water system, steam to hot water converters, and variable flow pumping systems. The airside systems included a custom built central station, M&I variable flow air handling unit and VAV terminals with terminal reheat. The air handling unit was carefully designed to fit in an existing building and meet all outside air codes and standards. The project also included the installation of telephone and LAN wireways, spot network transformers, and double ended air-draw-out switchgear.
