Project Details
WFT Engineering partnered with another engineering firm to
provide comprehensive mechanical, electrical, fire alarm,
fire protection, and plumbing services for this exciting project.
WFT Engineering personnel provided electrical and fire alarm
system design for this fast track 105,000 sf addition to the
existing landmark hotel. The project scope included extensive
site verification as well as integrated design and construction
administration for the complete installation of a new infrastructure
including new boilers, chillers, electrical service and suite
upgrades for the hotel, office, restaurant, lobby, ballroom,
and conference center.
The design
and construction for this facility included seamlessly expanding
the existing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection
infrastructure while integrating the requirements for the
new portion of the facility. The expanded/integrated systems
included the mechanical central plant (chillers, cooling towers,
pumps, etc.) new upgraded primary metered power service, updated
digital fire alarm security system, and lighting control systems.

The University of Maryland University College Marriott
Hotel & Conference Center earned LEED Silver certification
and was the first hotel in the nation to achieve LEED
certification.
