Project Details
As the prime consultant, WFT Engineering acted as the mechanical/electrical
liaison between the prospective building owner and building
owner at the time of the proposed facility sale. WFT Engineering
provided a detailed system inspection, study and evaluation
for this continuously operating monumental hotel facility
located in downtown Washington, DC. The project scope included
the detailed inspection and system modification recommendation
for all building mechanical, electrical, and life safety systems.
WFT Engineering then provided an estimated cost of construction
for all required equipment and system upgrades and replacements
to the building systems. Phasing of the required system improvements
was crucial to implementation of the plan, as the building
needed to remain in operation to allow the project to remain
financially viable. As part of this project, WFT Engineering
worked with a local contractor to remove selected sections
of piping as required to perform a destructive test and evaluation
of the building’s piping systems. Sections of pipe were then
evaluated by a specialty laboratory to determine the extent
of the piping replacement required and to assist in the development
of the phasing plan.
