Project Details
As part of a design build team, WFT Engineering provided mechanical,
plumbing, and electrical engineering design and construction
for the installation of a 6,200 linear foot perimeter fence
around the north and east sides of the Suitland Federal Complex.
The project included the installation of an ornamental, 84”
high, solid steel picket fence with three main drive double
gates and four secondary drive entrances. The project also
included the installation of two new guardhouses and a new
visitors’ reception center complete with communications, air
conditioning, power, and lighting infrastructure. Security
was maintained at all times during the project.
In order to complete this fast track project, WFT Engineering
expedited the site survey, design, and approval process with
local and government authorities in and around the complex.
The phased, fast track, design and construction were required
to allow continuous visitation to the complex with minimal
disruption to the facilities mission. The project scope included
detailed site investigation, preparation of coordinated and
checked demolition and construction documents using format,
cost estimates, and construction administration. The systems
included installation of efficient site lighting, signage,
weatherproof power receptacles, air-conditioned guard facilities,
and CCTV systems. WFT Engineering also provided construction
administration for this complicated, fast track, phased project.
