General Services Administration Southern Maryland United States District Courthouse Greenbelt, Maryland

Project Details

WFT Engineering provided mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection engineering design services for several renovations in this prestigious courthouse in Greenbelt, Maryland.

Our design included the refurbishing of approximately 13,000 sf of office space into  a new court clerks facility and the conversion of approximately 14,000 sf of office space into new judge’s chambers and new district courtrooms. Extensive site survey and coordination with the architect was required to verify the existing facility design. New mechanical HVAC distribution systems were designed to comply with the environmental and noise design criteria required. New electrical power, data, telephone, audio/visual, and security system designs were provided for all areas. New plumbing fixtures and piping were designed to accommodate the new judge's chambers and jury deliberation areas. The fire protection system was updated to comply with the new occupancies. All of the design work was performed to comply with special client requests and the U.S. Courts Design Guide, 1997, and the GSA Facility Design Guide P-100, 2004.
