Project Details
Georgetown University Law Center (GULC) Harrison Policy
Clinic
WFT Engineering provided mechanical, electrical, and fire
protection engineering design for the renovation of a library
reading and stack storage area into the Harrison Policy Clinic
at the Georgetown University Law Center (GULC). The first
floor space was remodeled to provide for seven additional
staff offices, two meeting spaces and conference rooms, two
student work spaces as well as continued library access. Engineering
included mechanical HVAC upgrades to satisfy the remodeled
space needs consistent with the existing facility systems,
new lighting, power, communications, and fire alarm integration,
along with a revised fire protection design to comply with
existing code and client requirements.
Georgetown University Law Center (GULC) E. B. Williams
Law Library
WFT Engineering provided mechanical, plumbing, electrical,
and fire protection design services for the first floor renovation
of the E. B. Williams Law Library at the Georgetown University
Law Center (GULC). The first floor was remodeled to provide
improved service space for the Law Review publications provided
by GULC. Engineering inspection and testing services were
also supplied to determine the cause of leaks in the fire
sprinkler, supply piping and proposed remediation recommendations.
WFT Engineering also provided the engineered redesign of the
domestic hot water mixing valve for the Gewirz Student Center.
Georgetown University Law Center (GULC) Dean of Students
Office Suite
WFT Engineering provided mechanical, electrical, and fire
protection engineering design for the renovation of an existing
classroom area into the Dean of Students office suite at the
Georgetown University Law Center (GULC). The second floor
space was remodeled to provide for three additional staff
offices, a meeting space/conference room, and a receptionist/administrative
space as well as continued library access. Engineering included
mechanical HVAC upgrades to satisfy the remodeled space needs
consistent with the existing facility systems, new lighting,
power, communications, and fire alarm integration, along with
a revised fire protection design to comply with existing code
and client requirements.
Georgetown University Law Center (GULC) Gerwirz Student
Housing Center
WFT Engineering provided an engineered plumbing redesign of
the hot water distribution system for the Gerwirz Student
Housing Center at the Georgetown University Law Center (GULC).
The domestic hot water distribution system for the Gerwirz
Student Housing Center was experiencing declining capacity
and frequent down times which rendered the system unreliable
and unusable for the 210 room residency complex. After a review
and analysis of the system, it was recommended that the domestic
hot water mixing valve be upgraded to a high capacity manifold
system and that a complete redesign of the hot water generating
and distribution system was not required. This engineered
solution saved the university a significant expense of having
to completely upgrade the domestic hot water system for the
facility.
