Project Details

WFT Engineering provided the mechanical, electrical, and fire protection engineering services for the renovation and infill for the School of Architecture Gallery, located on the main level of the Architecture Building at the University of Maryland, College Park. The project consisted of the extension of the second floor through the upper portion of the gallery. This doubled the usable floor space, allowing the renovated lower level to remain in use as a gallery space, and the new upper level to be constructed as administrative space. A new rooftop HVAC unit provided heating, air conditioning, and ventilation to the newly developed space. The power and new lighting was provided from the existing building services. The gallery lighting is controlled by the building lighting control system. The fire detection and protection systems are extended from the existing building systems.
