Project Details
WFT Engineering completed mechanical, electrical, and plumbing
system design development and is now entering the construction
document phase for Rockville Metro Plaza II. The building
is similar in size to Rockville Metro Plaza I and includes
17,000 sf of street level retail space. HVAC for the office
floors is provided by a water-cooled, self-contained, variable
air volume air conditioning unit on each floor. A dedicated
cooling tower and condenser water system is to serve future
retail tenant air conditioning units as well as air conditioning
units for office floor tenants requiring 24/7 environmental
control. Special attention has been given to the Owner’s desire
for energy efficiency, including a building automation system
and occupancy-sensor lighting control. WFT Engineering participated
in a pre-design charrette with Foulger Pratt and the architects
to explore the possibilities for LEED certification.
