Project Details
WFT Engineering provided detailed systems analysis, energy
consumption estimates, and life cycle cost analysis for site
storm, sanitary, plumbing, and fire protection portions of
this landmark project. The General Services Administration
Federal Office Building will serve as a headquarters for a
federal agency requiring the highest security standards. It
is located at the intersection of New York and Florida Avenues,
in an industrial area that is beginning a process of urban
renewal and rejuvenation. This 440,000 sf building accommodates
general office space, laboratories, an auditorium, secure
parking, retail, security, and auxiliary services. The project
included interface with District of Columbia Water and Sewer
Authority (DCWASA), Washington Gas, and Pepco to design the
secure underground, blast hardened parking garage for over
200 cars, bicycles, and maintenance storage, as well as service
entrances within the $80,000,000 dollar budget.
